Roberto Cavalli’s Fall/Winter 2000 collection, presented in Milan, explored a refined interpretation of luxury inspired by Paul Poiret’s silhouettes, the opulence of Leon Bakst’s Ballets Russes, and the bohemian glamour of London’s early 1970s scene.
The collection combined reversible brocade robe manteaus lined with silk or lace, bias-cut leopard gowns, flannel suits with wide-leg trousers, and draped jersey dresses. Rich materials like velvet, mink, and gold leaf underscored Cavalli’s dedication to craftsmanship and ornamental detail, while softer shapes marked a shift from the body-hugging silhouettes of previous seasons.
