Veronica Leoni’s collection for Calvin Klein, encompassing both menswear and womenswear, explored the American notion of freedom and mirrored the aesthetic of locals in the East Village. The collection featured observations of daily life, seen in models carrying keychains and some bags that were intentionally prescuffed.
Underwear references, nodding to Calvin Klein’s heritage, included Calvin Klein branded boxers worn under blazers and a girl sporting long johns with built in Y front briefs. A striped terry robe appeared, crafted surprisingly from finely laser cut leather. The collection achieved offhanded chic through looks like a brown double collar trench coat over boots and jeans, a paper thin leather bomber teamed with chinos, and broken suits with mismatched jackets and pants. Other pieces included a papery crinkled coat and dress, and a sculpted evening dress woven from underwear waistbands.
