The Alberta Ferretti spring 2003 collection emphasized shortened hemlines throughout. The opening looks included shift dresses with a 1960s influence in olive, buff, pale blue, and silver, some incorporating woven chiffon strips designed to resemble raffia. A series of fitted chiffon pieces followed, featuring ruched and puckered surfaces and shaped close to the body, with silhouettes positioned between a swimsuit and a dress. Several of these styles included small flounced hems or were paired with matching micro shorts. Additional layering pieces included sheer embroidered skirts worn over the fitted dresses.
