Vintage in Pills CHRISTIAN DIOR Spring 1997 Paris – Fashion Channel
The Spring/Summer 1997 collection by Gianfranco Ferré for Christian Dior was presented during Paris Fashion Week. The collection combined elements of Ferré’s structured tailoring with references to the house’s historic silhouettes associated with Christian Dior, particularly the New Look style introduced in 1947.
Many garments referenced the New Look suit, featuring tailored jackets paired with A-line skirts. Other structured pieces included vests, tailored trousers, sheath dresses, skirts, and A-line mini dresses. The collection progressed from tailored daywear toward swimwear ensembles with coordinated cover-ups, and concluded with ankle-length evening gowns.
The color palette included white, black, beige, cream, ivory, navy, yellow, mustard, lime, light green, lilac, red, light blue, and orange.
The runway presentation concluded with ballerinas wearing romantic tutus. Accessories included brogues, strappy sandals, heeled sandals, and various bags, such as side bags, tote bags, and beach bags. Hair styling was sleek, while makeup featured smoky eye shadow and pink lipstick.
