Bora Aksu presented his Spring 2026 collection in the rose garden of St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden, drawing inspiration from his collection of damaged Victorian dolls. The lineup translated their miniature wardrobes into full-scale looks, including ruffled nightgowns in iridescent lace—sourced from deadstock Turkish bridal fabrics—and tiered prairie dresses in pale pink broderie anglaise.
Cotton took on a central role, appearing in puff-sleeve dresses and striped peplum blouses layered with lace, tulle, and crochet. Sequins appeared in oversized form, wired beneath voluminous sack dresses, while baroque drapes of mustard georgette and crimson silk animated asymmetrical gowns. Short suits cut from clashing checks added a tailored counterpoint.
The collection balanced antique chintz references with playful irregularities, echoing the patchwork nature of historical doll clothes. Embellishments, overlays, and appliqués reinforced the layered craftsmanship that has long defined Aksu’s work.
