Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2026 RTW collection, Angels in America, presented at St. Bartholomew’s Church, features a range of garments marked by fluidity, vibrant colors, and intricate craftsmanship. The collection showcases a variety of silhouettes, including loose, sleeveless dresses that taper at the knee before expanding into volume, and airy, lacelike knit sweaters worn over wide trousers. Evening wear includes both strapless designs and pieces with sweeping, voluminous backs.
The color palette is a striking mix of hot pink, coral, vivid yellow, lavender, black, white, and gilded beige, all rendered in fabrics such as brocade, taffeta, and embossed cloque. Several pieces incorporate elaborate handwork, including a dress resembling golden plumage and another with embroidered flowers.
Gurung also drew inspiration from the trumpet flower, a symbol associated with angelic worship in Nepal, which informed the collection’s silhouettes. Subtle nods to the colors of the trans Pride flag are incorporated into the designs, along with references to marginalized communities and themes of inclusivity.
