Alessandro Michele’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection for Valentino, presented at Paris Fashion Week, explored a dialogue between simplicity and emotion. The show’s concept was inspired by a wartime letter from Pier Paolo Pasolini, in which he described the joy of seeing fireflies a metaphor Michele used to rekindle the sense of creative wonder that first drew him to design.
Set on a minimalist black stage illuminated by swirling lights evoking fireflies, the presentation stripped away excess to refocus attention on craftsmanship and silhouette. Michele referenced Valentino Garavani’s elegant Rome of the early 1980s, reinterpreting the era’s romance through puff-sleeved blouses, bow-adorned jackets, pencil skirts, and sequined evening pieces.
The collection balanced refined daywear including zebra-patterned windbreakers and precisely tailored suits with richly textured evening looks in velvet, silk, and sequins, blending nostalgic opulence with modern restraint. Through this poetic yet grounded approach, Michele reaffirmed his belief in fashion as an act of hope and beauty.
