Vintage in Pills CHANEL Fall 2002 Couture Paris – Fashion Channel
Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel couture collection established a new signature silhouette defined by a contrast of severity and sensuality. The iconic Chanel jacket was recut with a rigorous shape: a high Edwardian collar, strong, slightly puffed shoulders, and the narrowest waist.
This tailored look was countered by skirts that finished in deep ruffles of spangled tulle at the hem. The buttoned-up, equestrian style jackets, sometimes finished with high white piqué collars, were accessorized with seamed fishnet tights and gold-beaded shoes. For evening, looks included a standout gold sequin flapper dress and a lighter, strappy black dress with lace inserts. The collection widely featured the frill and the ruffle, executed primarily in a sophisticated black and white palette.
